ABOUT TEA TRAIL TOUR

One of the most immersive and unforgettable experiences you can enjoy in Munnar, Kerala’s legendary tea country.The Munnar Tea Trail Tour is a guided walking experience that takes you deep into the serene tea plantations, where local tea pickers carry out their daily work. Along the way, you will visit a traditional tea factory and gain fascinating insights into how tea leaves are harvested, processed, and transformed into the aromatic beverage enjoyed around the world. To complete the experience, you can also opt for a Tea Tasting Session, where you can sample different varieties of tea and appreciate their unique flavours and aromas.
 


1. Tea Plantation Walk (1–2 Hours) -The experience begins with a peaceful 1-2 hour walk through the lush tea gardens of Lockhart Estate. Learn about different tea plant varieties, seasonal harvesting cycles, interaction with plantation labors, traditional tea plucking methods and tea plantation labors village, from an experienced guide. After tea plantation walk, proceeding to "Lockhart Tea Factory Visiting" section.


2. Lockhart Tea Factory Visit (1 Hour) - Explore the historic Lockhart Tea Factory and witness traditional tea processing, vintage machinery, and the rich heritage of Munnar’s tea industry in an orthodox tea factory. Lockhart Tea Factory, one of the oldest operational tea factories in Kerala. After visiting the orthodox tea factory, proceeding to "Tea Tasting" section.
 


3. Guided Tea Tasting (30 Minutes)- Conclude your tea journey with an interactive tea tasting session, where you can sample a selection of freshly prepared teas. Learn how factors such as processing methods, leaf quality, and brewing styles influence the taste, aroma, and character of each variety, making every cup a unique experience.

Due to uneven terrain and walking trails, this experience is not suitable for guests with walking disabilities or those using wheelchairs. Transfer durations are approximate and may vary depending on traffic and road conditions.

We had a very nice time during our tour. The scenery was stunning and the tour of the factory was very interesting. So far, my time in India has been spent mostly in a car and it was nice to have a peaceful walk in the fresh air. Our guide, Amanju, was very friendly and knowledgeable and she kindly picked us various berries to eat during the tour.

We unfortunately only had one full day in beautiful Munnar but we are so glad we chose to go on the Tea Trail Tour. This tour combined a trek through the breathtaking landscape of the tea plantations and a visit to a local tea factory. We got to truly appreciate the landscape in which the tea grows then learnt how it was made and even had an education in tasting the different types! Both of our guides were knowledgeable and friendly, and the driver was also very nice. I would strongly recommend this tour if you want to immerse yourself in beautiful Munnar.

We had a fantastic time on this tour and I am so glad we made time for it! The plantation tour walk was so interesting. Our guide, Raj, was so knowledgeable and showed us how the tea plants are grown, maintained, and picked. I learned so much at the factory tour as well. I never knew how complex the tea making process was. The tea tasting at the end was so fun too!
