Highlights & Unique Experiences
Home of the Nilgiri Tahr
Eravikulam is the best place to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, a mountain goat species found only in the Western Ghats. You may catch them grazing on steep slopes or silhouetted against dawn light.
Panoramic Views & Anamudi Peak
The park includes Anamudi, the highest peak in South India (approx. 2,695 m), offering dramatic backdrops and ridgeline vistas.
Grasslands, Shola Forests & Flora Diversity
The terrain alternates between rolling grassland plateaus and shola (montane) forests, creating a spectacular mosaic of vegetation.
Neelakurinji Bloom (Every 12 Years)
When the rare Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana) flower blooms, hillsides turn into a lavendar sea — a once-in-a-decade spectacle that draws visitors worldwide.
Eco-Friendly Access & Forest Buses
Private vehicles aren’t allowed inside the park. Visitors must ride shared forest buses from the entrance, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
Birds, Butterflies & Hidden Fauna
Over 130 bird species, 101 butterfly species, and many endemic amphibians and small mammals live here. Keep your eyes and ears open!
Lakkom Waterfalls & Nearby Nature Walks
Just outside or within park boundaries, Lakkom Falls offers a scenic stop with cascading water and forest walks.
